This year, 14 newcomers made it into the top 50 Estonian restaurants. The list includes 29 Tallinn restaurants.

“There is a clearly noticeable generational change taking place in the best Estonian restaurants”, says Aivar Hanson, the head of Flavours of Estonia and the compiler of the list. “But being young no longer means having no experience. Restaurants with a unique concept are those that are successful. It takes courage to be different from others.”

The top 50 Estonian restaurants were chosen according to the votes of the key employees of the restaurants. Now it is time for an international jury to evaluate the restaurants based on visitor experience and form a ranking from the list in the autumn.

Flavours of Estonia is a programme started in 2008 that supports the development of culinary skills and introduces Estonia as a country of good food.
